09:05 <doogs> can someone talk to me about tracking profiles?
09:06 <aaronpk> sure thing
09:06 <aaronpk> did you already see this page? http://developers.geoloqi.com/ios/tracking-profiles
09:08 <doogs> thanks ... I there are two different people asking about expected behavior... check out this one
09:09 <aaronpk> might have to ask our android guys, I'm not as familiar with the android side of things
09:10 <aaronpk> seems strange though I agree
09:11 <doogs> so aaron... In looking into GPS settings ... (at least in droid) there are two basic parameters used to turn on GPS ... frequency (in miliseconds) and distance in feet I think...
09:12 <doogs> these params from what I gather are there to tell droid when to ping the gps sensor for updates....
09:12 <doogs> does the same hold true on iOS
09:12 <aaronpk> it's totally different on iOS
09:12 <doogs> :) nice
09:14 <aaronpk> and much more of a "black box" approach
09:14 <aaronpk> you aren't talking to the GPS hardware, you're talking to the iOS "location manager"
09:14 <doogs> ok... but under the hood from what I read tracking profiles abstract the native GPS senesors.. so there are pretty much the same
09:15 <aaronpk> the goal is they are pretty much the same, yes
09:15 <doogs> is that a fair assumption to think our SDK does this
09:15 <doogs> cool
09:18 <doogs> so if it possible to say something like. "Logging" gets data every five feet", "Realtime" gets data every second every one feet, "Adaptive" gets data every 10 minutes and every mile and "Rough" gets data every 30 minutes every 5 miles
09:19 <doogs> I wanted to say is it possible...to summaries these using descriptions like "time and distance"...
09:19 <aaronpk> it's best not to be so explicit about it
09:19 <aaronpk> on iphone it's not really based on time or distance
09:20 <aaronpk> it's mostly based on distance in realtime/logging mode on iphone, but in adaptive and rough, totally not
09:21 <doogs> just trying to get a handle on how to troubleshoot when people say onLocationChange does not fire...

09:23 <doogs> If there using rough and sitting in there office chair all day.. do you think onLocationChange might get triggered once and once only?
09:46 <aaronpk> doogs: yea it's quite possible
09:46 <aaronpk> the phones tend to do their own power management as well, which may lead to things like onLocationChange not being called as often as you expect
