15:35 <jhgaylor> hi. I'm considering using geoloqi and I was hoping someone would have a moment to hear out my use case and advise me if geoloqi is an appropriate tool
15:37 <aaronpk> jhgaylor: sure thing
15:39 <jhgaylor> I want to know if a user enters any one of a set of places. I will need to know which one of the places was entered. It seems to me that i would create a layer, add the places, and then add a trigger to the layer. i'm not sure how many events that will trigger.
15:39 <jhgaylor> i'm not against using device hardware to find the geo location once the layer trigger is fired, but i'd prefer to use the api if it a prohibitively high number of calls.
15:40 <aaronpk> in that case, the trigger will run each time any person enters any of the places you've created
15:42 <jhgaylor> oh, I see the callback response now. That's actually a lot of information :)
15:43 <jhgaylor> how long is the delay? I've found that preserving battery life ends up w/ the hardware being powered off. 3-5 minutes? real time?
15:44 <aaronpk> it depends on the configuration
15:45 <aaronpk> we have a real-time mode which leaves the GPS on full the whole time (best if the device is plugged in of course since it uses a lot of battery)
15:45 <aaronpk> there's "adaptive" mode which uses a combination of GPS and Apple's "region monitoring" features for best results
15:48 <jhgaylor> My use is totally fine w/ 3-5 minutes. That's what apple quotes in some docs I fumbled through before I hit gold by finding geology! Users will need to have this app running in the background all the time. is that going to end w/ my users having dead phones halfway through the day? would changing that time to 10,15,60 minutes make a change? I guess what I really want to know is where's the hotspot?
15:53 <jhgaylor> I've actually found it on the discussion site
15:53 <jhgaylor> thanks for you're time. I'm excited now :) gotta go hack
15:54 <aaronpk> great thanks!
15:54 <aaronpk> could you paste a link to the forum thread while you have it open?
15:54 <aaronpk> perfect thanks! (for future record if peopel find the logs)
15:54 <jhgaylor> that link pulled me to the bottom, but the first comment is the one I found
15:54 <jhgaylor> i found helpful*
15:55 <jhgaylor> there's the permlink
15:55 <aaronpk> thanks!
15:55 <aaronpk> alright best of luck with the project!
15:55 <jhgaylor> :) have a good day
