17:56 <Schuyler> pdxgene mixed up his coordinates, huh
17:59 <aaronpk> someone in Taiwan downloaded the iPhone app and started using it without changing the device key, and pdxgene did too. So they were logging to the default account
17:59 <aaronpk> So when gene opened up the app here, there was this giant line going across the entire map because it loaded up the last 200 points of history which included some points in Taiwan!
18:15 <Schuyler> hot
18:16 <Schuyler> you wind up with a reversed US roughly centered on Mongolia if you invert the sign of the longitude for points in the US.
18:16 <Schuyler> this was a common error in the early days of neogeography.
18:16 <Schuyler> Joshua Schachter had (probably still has) a great visualization from GeoURL from like 2004
18:18 <Schuyler> Beijing is at about 40 N, 116 E for example
18:18 <aaronpk> yea! I was looking through the logs and saw some points at roughly the same longitude with the opposite sign! I thought there was a weird glitch at first
18:19 <Schuyler> Portland is 45 N, 122 W
18:20 <Schuyler> well, Winnemucca would be closer to opposite, but you get the idea.
18:21 <aaronpk> oh hey he's been logging again today!
